INTENSIVE NAVIGATION COURSE FOR CREW MEMBERS
INFORMATION:
Course focused by and for sailors who do not want/can be skippers but who want to be important and help on board. Every good skipper was first a good crew member.
With this course you are assured, at least on a technical level, to sail on the best boat there is: your friend’s/family’s boat.
Boat: Grand Soleil 43/ Hanse 315 / Hanse 415 / Bavaria 34
Hours: 10:00h to 14:00h and 16:00h to 20:00h.
Duration: 2 days.
Number of students: Maximum 5 students per course.
Student profile: Recreational skippers and sailors without previous nautical experience.
Home Port: Monte Real Club Yates Bayona.
Periodicity: October to June.
Necessary equipment: Wetsuit and nautical footwear.
SUBJECT
– Nautical terms: To understand each other on board it is very convenient to know how to speak the same language.
– Personal comfort: Personal equipment, prevention of seasickness, how to maintain temperature, etc.
– Personal safety: Dangerous elements on board. How to move on board, etc.
– Coexistence on board: Roles on board, cohabitation in confined spaces with people in close proximity, etc.
– Knots, ropes and uses.
– Motor maneuvers: docking, undocking, anchoring, MOB, etc. as an aid on board.
– Sailing maneuvers: Hoisting, lowering, tacking, gybing, etc. as aids aboard.
– Basic boat handling. Both under sail and motor.
– Pneumatic landing gear: Use and precautions with and without engine
– Navigation watches: Crossing navigation as crew member.
– Safety on board: Prevention of problems, fire extinguishing, abandon ship, mayday, etc.
