FREQUENT ASKED QUESTIONS
How exactly do I get to Tortola (BVI) from Spain?
Yes, familiarity with coastal and night navigation is required. You don’t need a certificate, but you do need a willingness to learn and actively participate.
Is it safe to sail in the Caribbean (BVI) if I have never been on a boat?
Absolutely. The BVI is the “lake of the Caribbean”: protected waters, little swell and short trips of 2-3 hours. La Peregrina is a very stable offshore sailboat and our professional skipper guarantees total safety in every maneuver.
What if I am traveling alone?
You can reserve an individual place. The atmosphere aboard our cruises is one of companionship and respect, and the coexistence is fluid from the first minute!
Why are the BVI considered the best destination to charter a sailboat?
It is known as the “charter capital of the world” because the islands are very close to each other (short sailings of 1 to 3 hours) and are protected from the open sea by the central channel. This guarantees a very comfortable navigation, with hardly any waves, ideal to enjoy life aboard a sailing yacht like La Peregrina to the fullest.
What currency is used in the British Virgin Islands?
Although they are British, the official currency is the United States Dollar (USD). It is important for crewmembers to have some cash in USD for the common box expenses and for their personal expenses ashore.
