INFORMATION:
To know and practice sailing modern sailing monohulls so that the client can rent/buy a sailboat and skipper it safely and confidently.
To broaden practical experience by reinforcing the knowledge acquired in the official nautical qualification practices, taking for granted that they are not enough to be a skipper who guides his crew in moderate weather conditions.
Boat: Grand Soleil 43/ Hanse 315 / Hanse 415 / Lagoon 42
Hours: 10:00h to 14:00h and 16:00h to 20:00h.
Duration: 2 days.
Number of students: Maximum 5 students per course.
Student profile: Recreational skippers and sailors with previous sailing experience.
Home Port: Monte Real Club Yates Bayona.
Periodicity: October to June.
Necessary equipment: Wetsuit and nautical footwear.
SUBJECT
– Steering: Improve steering ability by adapting technique to weather conditions. Dangers and advantages of each course according to sea and wind conditions.
– Trimming: Adjusting the sails for each weather condition and type of sailing.
– Berthing: Berthing techniques, use and function of each berthing line, crew organization.
– Sailing with reduced crew: Single-handed or double-handed sailing. Techniques to sail with confidence both with reduced crew and in case the skipper is the only one with nautical experience on board.
– Crew management: How to command, teach and transmit safety and confidence to the crew on board.
– Skipper: Summarizes the previous sections. To be self-sufficient on board to run the boat alone, manage crew with efficiency and tranquility.
– Crossing planning. How to plan, which cruises to choose depending on weather and crew capabilities/wishes, where to find information. How to prepare trips from home.
– Interpretation of weather forecasts. Digital media, local conditions, precautionary criteria.
– Life on board. How to manage and train crew in electrical management, water reserves, fuel, etc. Use of galley, bathrooms, cleanliness, order, navigation with safety.
– Anchoring: How, where and precautions for anchoring. Both daytime and overnight anchoring. Electronic aids. Precautions with neighbors.
– Destinations-Seasons-Sailboat charter: Mediterranean-Caribbean when to charter, how to choose boat and company, prices and extras, what to consider when chartering.
