Astrotourism route on the high seas
Experience the magic of a pure sky by sailboat: Beyond a Starlight Destination
Embark on La Peregrina, the mythical Galician tall ship with more than 40 Atlantic crossings, and sail to a privileged place for astronomical observation.
A 24-hour journey that takes you out to sea, far from the coast and light pollution, to enjoy a pristine sky. We will go beyond the Cíes Islands to live a unique experience, beyond any conventional Starlight Destination.
What is astrotourism?
Astrotourism is a form of responsible tourism that unites adventure, divulgation and science. We sail more than 100 km from the coast, heading to an ideal observation point, without artificial light interference. This natural space, where the night sky is shown in all its splendor, is perfect to enjoy an authentic floating Starlight Destination.
During the route:
- You will learn astronomical navigation with sextant, like the sailors of yesteryear.
- You will compare traditional and modern navigation systems
- All in a pleasant, educational and environmentally friendly environment.
What will you be able to observe?
- The Milky Way in total clarity
- Constellations, planets and meteor showers
- Marine bioluminescence
- Cetaceans and seabirds
- A clean horizon, with no light pollution as far as the eye can see.
