Sailing route around the Cíes Islands

An unforgettable route to the heart of the National Park of the Atlantic Islands

Would you like to discover the Cíes Islands from a unique perspective and away from the crowds? This sailing boat or catamaran trip allows you to visit the archipelago out of high season, when the islands are transformed into a natural sanctuary without tourists or crowds. A private paradise that only sailors know, within the protected environment of the Maritime-Terrestrial National Park of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia.

During the crossing we will sail from the Monte Real Yacht Club of Baiona, crossing the Vigo estuary, until we reach the archipelago. There we will disembark to make one of the most emblematic routes of the park: the ascent to Alto do Príncipe. It is a 45-minute gentle hike to one of the most spectacular viewpoints of the Cíes Islands, with views of Rodas Beach, Lago dos Nenos and the lighthouses of the north island.

If you prefer, you can opt for other hiking trails, such as the Faro da Porta, or simply enjoy a swim and relax by the sea. All this with the tranquility of sailing in a small group, accompanied by a professional skipper accredited as a guide of the National Park of the Atlantic Islands.

This route by private sailboat or catamaran around the Cíes Islands offers a close, safe and suitable experience for the whole family. In addition, it is available all year round under previous reservation request and does not require a minimum group of participants.

A journey to paradise

During the trip we will sail from the Monte Real Yacht Club of Baiona through the Vigo estuary, covering 7 nautical miles aboard a catamaran (11 seats) or a monohull sailboat (9 seats), guided by a professional skipper accredited as a guide of the national park.

The crossing includes a scenic navigation bordering the South Island of Cíes, also known as San Martiño. We will pass in front of the channel known as Freu da Porta -a strait about 500 meters wide that separates the two main islands- and then continue the route contemplating the imposing silhouette of the island of Rodas, until we reach our destination: the small port of the North Island.
