Camino de Santiago by boat

V Rías Baixas Route

The Rías Baixas – Camino Marítimo de Santiago Route offers the unique experience of sailing the Camino de Santiago by sea in a group, with the participation of up to 30 boats, where safety, companionship and camaraderie are a priority.

In each edition, the most impressive and safe ports and landscapes of the Rías Baixas are selected, complying with the minimum 90 nautical miles required by the Church to recognize a maritime pilgrimage, before continuing on to Santiago de Compostela through the Camino de la Ría de Muros Noia.

The organization of the maritime Camino de Santiago Route includes events and private tastings for crew members, making each edition both a recreational and gastronomic experience.

This crossing also has the attraction of following the path of great navigators who, since the 12th century, used this pilgrimage route to reach the only officially recognized Portus Apostoli (Noia), and continue on to Compostela.

This experience is one of the few that allows sailors to obtain the title of pilgrims, starting their journey from a Galician port.

To be considered a true nautical pilgrim, it is necessary to meet these four requirements:

  1. Sailing, following the ancient maritime pilgrimage routes.
  2. To make the tour following one of the historical itineraries recognized by the Church, as the Way of the Ria de Muros Noia, which was made official on December 20, 2020.
  3. Cover a minimum of 90 nautical miles; our route exceeds 100 miles.
  4. Complete on foot the last kilometers to Santiago, suggesting the last 12km of the Ría de Muros Noia Way, from Bertamiráns to Santiago.
