Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

How can I book?
Fill out the booking form, specify the desired boat and the number of crew members, as well as your details and contact us to check the availability. If our offer is satisfactory, please let us know about it and we will reserve an option for you (which you can usually keep for seven days) or you will reserve directly. Then the offer must be returned signed together with the payment of your reservation. Reservations will not be confirmed until the first deposit has been received. We recommend reserving months in advance for rental contracts issued during high season.
How and when is the payment made?
50% of the rental price will be paid at the time of booking, the rest must be paid 4 weeks before departure. All payments must be made by bank transfer. For bookings made within 30 days of departure, full payment is required to confirm the booking.
What training do I need to rent an unmanned sailboat?
The rental of yachts without crew requires the presentation of a valid navigation license by the skipper: Adequate or international Spanish nautical qualification approved in Spain. The skipper may also be asked to submit a navigation curriculum so that we can assess his ability to navigate safely. Julio Verne Nautica reserves the right to instruct charterers to hire a skipper despite their qualifications if our staff do not consider their navigation skills to be sufficient.
What experience do I have to rent an unmanned sailboat?
In addition to the necessary qualifications, you must already have experience in sailing without a crew and we will evaluate your previous experience. If you don’t have one, don’t worry, you can request one of our skippers who are also instructors so that you can enjoy your charter while improving your nautical skills.
What is the charter with skipper?
If you need a skipper, Julio Verne Nautica can offer you one of our professional skippers for as many days as you like. Even if you have sailing experience, you may need the services of a skipper to make your charter more relaxed and to benefit from the skippers’ local knowledge. Remember that the skipper needs something to drink and eat as he is forced to sleep on board.
What areas of navigation can we explore?
All Julio Verne Nautica yacht charters are strictly limited to Spanish waters. Exceptions to this rule must be discussed and agreed between the parties prior to booking.
On which days of the week can I start and end my charter?
Weekly sailing yacht charters start and end Saturdays. In any case (even in high season) Julio Verne Náutíca will try to fulfill your wishes for different days of the week and irregular periods, such as an four- or five-day charter.
When does the Charter begin and end?
All charters of less than a week start at 11:00 on the day of departure and end at 21:00 on the day of arrival of the yacht at the marina.
The charters per week start on Saturday at 17:00 and end the following Saturday before 07:00. Arrival at the base must be made on Friday before 19:00.
Can I get on and off at other ports?
Our basis is the Monte Real Yacht Club in Baiona (Ría de Vigo). There is an option to hop on and off at other ports (subject to boat availability), but you will be charged additional costs. The costs vary depending on the location of the other ports. Please consult our price list.
What is the purpose of a security payment?
The deposit serves to cover the deductible of the yacht insurance and to guarantee all costs that are not covered when boarding. If there is no damage or loss to the yacht or its equipment after the rental , Julio Verne Nautica will refund the deposit.
However, if there is damage and/or loss, only the balance of the deposit after full calculation of the repair costs of the damage and/or loss incurred and their deduction, will be refunded. The deposit includes, but is not limited to: loss and / or damage to the boat, its offer and its civil liability; loss and/or damage to equipment, costs incurred if the ship is returned in an unacceptably dirty condition; Costs of returning the ship to the predetermined port if the charterer does not do so on the scheduled date and time, and costs of reporting if the ship is returned without the completed deposits.

Can I share my experience with Julio Verne Nautica?
At the end of the reservation, we will ask you for your feedback on customer satisfaction, which will allow us to improve our overall level of service through the reviews received.
Do you sail in winter?
That it is! We sail every week of the year. Sailing in coastal conditions means that the state of the sea never exceeds 2 meters in height. The average temperature in our winter is 16 degrees.
Which boat should I choose?
Monohull or catamaran is the big dilemma. If you are looking for comfort and space to enjoy, you should choose the catamaran. If you are looking for a less expensive and entertaining navigation, you should opt for a monohull. It also depends on the number of people and how they want to make themselves comfortable. It is advisable to sleep on board so you do not exceed the number of people who can sleep in each cabin and leave the cabin during the day. Anyway, if you want to get the most out of the boat, the boat is ready for it.
What is the cancellation policy in case of bad weather?
If there is an unfavorable weather forecast, an orange warning in the agency State of meteorology (AEMET) at the same time as your Charter, we suggest you change the departure date. In the event that you cannot make a change, we will cancel the departure and refund 100% of the amount paid.
RAIN INSURANCE. If the weather predicts continuous rain, the customer can change the date free of charge. Only in low season. Subject to availability. The change must be communicated at least 3 days before the charter.
